Florence 15 January 2021Leo Nucci, reluctantly, has to give up the production of Rigoletto at the Teatro del Maggio and it will be replaced by the baritone Luca Salsi, who will interpret the role of Rigoletto, in the new staging of the opera scheduled at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with the conduction of Riccardo Frizza and the directed by Davide Livermore.

Maestro Leo Nucci informed superintendent Alexander Pereira that despite the excellent use of the protective measures guaranteed by the Theater and the great sense of responsibility with which all the Maggio staff have faced these months, as a precaution, his participation in the production is was advised against by his doctor at least until an adequate vaccination protection that the Maestro hopes will take place as soon as possible.

In the cast of Rigoletto, in the role of Gilda Enkeleda Kamani and in that of the Duke of Mantova, the tenor Javier Camarena.

The other singers are Caterina Piva (Maddalena), Roman Lyulkin (Il Conte di Monterone), Alessio Cacciamani (Sparafucile), Valentina Corò (Giovanna), Francesco Samuele Venuti (Marullo), Antonio Garès (Borsa), Davide Piva (Il Conte di Ceprano), Rosalía Cid (La Contessa di Ceprano), Amin Ahangaran (Un usciere di corte), Greta Doveri (Un paggio della Duchessa).

The scenes are by Giò Forma, the costumes by Gianluca Falaschi, the lights by Antonio Castro, the videos by D-wok.

The opera, on rehearsals on these days, will be recorded on February 23 and will be streamed in March, in collaboration with a digital platform.

“We are working and preparing Rigoletto – adds the superintendent of the Maggio Alexander Pereira – as we did for Otello and Linda di Chamounix because we want to prepare our new productions up to the time of the premiere, which we broadcast in streaming, so that when we can reopen the theater and perform them with the audience in the hall, we will have a ready program and the artists and the choir and the orchestra will be able to go on stage knowing the set up well. In fact, we managed to schedule again these titles and so it will be for the Così fan tutte which will be conducted by Zubin Mehta and directed by Sven Erich Bechtolf ”.
