The Board of Trustees of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Foundation unanimously approves the 2025 financial statements
Reporting a net profit of €842,509
Florence, June 6, 2026 – The Board of Trustees of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Foundation, in the presence of Florence Mayor and Foundation President Sara Funaro, met on June 5, 2026, to approve the Foundation’s 2025 annual financial statements.
The 2025 financial statements show highly positive results, closing with a net profit of €842,509, confirming the positive outcome already achieved in the 2024 financial year. This result is particularly significant given the absence of extraordinary contributions from the founding members, clearly demonstrating that the Foundation’s economic, financial, and operational balance has now become both tangible and stable.
The positive outcome was also driven by an extraordinary increase in market-generated revenues, which rose by 33% compared with 2024. In particular, box office revenues increased by 38.5% over 2024, reaching an all-time record for the Maggio Theatre.
In recognition of these results, and extending its congratulations to General Director Carlo Fuortes, the Board unanimously approved the 2025 financial statements with great satisfaction. The Board also highlighted the high artistic quality of the Maggio’s programming, as evidenced by strong audience appreciation, extensive and positive coverage in leading national and international media, and the prestigious Abbiati Award for Best Production of 2025, awarded to Der junge Lord by Hans Werner Henze.
During the same meeting, the Board reviewed the progress of the 88th Maggio Festival as well as the Foundation’s economic and financial performance as of April 30, 2026, noting that all indicators were in line with the forecasts set out in the 2026 budget. “I would like to express my great satisfaction with the unanimous approval of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Foundation’s 2025 financial statements,” said Sara Funaro, Mayor of Florence and President of the Foundation. “The result achieved confirms the strength of the path undertaken in recent years and demonstrates the Foundation’s ability to combine artistic excellence, financial sustainability, and sound management. The growth in revenues, and particularly the outstanding box office performance, reflects a theatre that is increasingly attractive, capable of engaging a broad audience while further enhancing its prestige both nationally and internationally.” "I would like to thank General Director Carlo Fuortes for the tremendous work that made this important achievement possible. The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino is a cultural institution of excellence, recognized both in Italy and abroad. We will continue to support it, convinced that investing in culture means investing in the future of our community.”
