Who was Francesca Morvillo?

The image of Francesca Morvillo struggled to get out of the shadow cone where she was placed by the undoubted greatness of the figure of her husband Giovanni Falcone, the tragic self-denial of the men in the escort and, finally, the political weight of the Capaci massacre of 23 May 1992. This book, which is presented in May, in profound respect to his human and professional figure and in the recent memory of the thirtieth anniversary of the massacre, offers a collective reconstruction of friends, colleagues and scholars and wants to do justice to the underestimation of the only magistrate victim of mafia violence, recomposing the fragmented profile of a hundred memories.

This multi-voiced work, which reconstructs different phases and moments of her life, offers a new and unprecedented light on this jurist, one of the first Sicilian female magistrates, on her culture, on her deep and refined knowledge of law and criminal procedure, but also on his great humanity and generosity, on his gentle confidentiality, on the strength of his personality which made him a true model of judge for the young men and women who were setting out at that time and who are now entering the profession of magistrate. Thanks to the words of friends and colleagues, the book traces the life of Francesca Morvillo from the years of school and university to the most significant periods in the judiciary, in the beloved role of juvenile magistrate and in that of judge at the Court of Appeal of Palermo. Until the last few days that saw her engaged as a member of the commission for magistrate examinations and the tragedy of thirty years ago. Once again alongside Giovanni Falcone, the man he loved so much, loved in return, and who proudly appreciated, among his many qualities, his great professional value.
