Richard Strauss
Elektra
Programma
The Festival’s third opera, and the second conducted by Daniele Gatti, is another twentieth-century masterpiece: a new production of Richard Strauss’s Elektra. The staging and set design are by Stéphane Braunschweig. Once again, the cast brings together a distinguished roster of leading Strauss interpreters, including Violeta Urmana, Ricarda Merbeth, Vida Miknevičiūtė - winner of the 2025 Abbiati Prize - Christoph Fischesser, and Nikolai Schukoff, who returns to the Maggio following his acclaimed success in Salome last season. The premiere is scheduled for 20 June at 5 p.m., with further performances on 23 June at 8 p.m., 26 June at 3.30 p.m., and 28 June at 8 p.m.
