On October 10 at 5:00 pm, the curtain will rise on Adriana Lecouvreur by Francesco Cilea, in the production from the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège. Further performances are scheduled for Thursday October 14 at 8:00 pm, Sunday October 17 at 3:30 pm and Tuesday October 19 at 8:00 pm. Francesco Lanzillotta will conduct the performances, with stage direction by Arnaud Bernard. The role of Adriana will be performed by Chiara Isotton on October 10, 14 and 17, while on October 19 Marta Mari will take on the title role. The cast also includes Ksenia Dudnikova as the Princess of Bouillon, Piero Pretti as Maurizio di Sassonia and Roberto de Candia as Michonnet. A particularly fascinating musicological detail of this production lies in the fact that Francesco Lanzillotta will reorchestrate and restore to the score the short aria for the Prince of Bouillon (Nicola Ulivieri), which was cut and subsequently lost on the occasion of the opera’s world premiere in Milan in 1902.
