Marina Abramović/Marko Nikodijević
7 Deaths of Maria Callas
Programma
We inform our audience that as part of the precautionary measures to protect health and in compliance with the provisions received, the performance of 7 Deaths of Maria Callas on June 4, 5, 6 are postponed. We will provide, in updating, any other necessary information and news.
The 83rd Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Festival will be enhanced by the new project by Marina Abramović, with music by Marko Nikodijević and dedicated to the divine Maria Callas. As explained by Abramović, Maria Callas was a sublime artist with a very unhappy personal life; a woman whose suffered greatly for love and who died for love, just like the many heroines that she majestically played throughout her career. 7 Deaths of Maria Callas is in fact inspired by the seven operatic heroines that die for or of love: Carmen, Tosca, Lucia Ashton, Butterfly, Norma, Desdemona and Violetta Valery.
New staging in coproduction with Bayerischen Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Greek National Opera and Opéra National de Paris
