Florence, January 23, 2026 – The Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Maggio Academy open the doors of the Chorus Hall for three events dedicated to the art of singing. On Saturday, February 14 at 7:00 pm, Saturday, February 21 at 4:00 pm, and Thursday, February 26 at 7:00 pm, three public vocal masterclasses will be held, led by three outstanding figures of the international opera scene: Eleonora Buratto, Francesco Meli, and Luca Salsi.
Joining them will be the singers and pianists of the Accademia del Maggio, actively involved in the study sessions and musical in-depth work. The masterclasses will offer audiences a rare opportunity to observe up close the daily work that precedes the stage, delving into the heart of the technical, musical, and interpretative refinement process.
“Masterclasses with leading figures of the opera world have always been a fundamental activity of the Accademia and an integral part of the training path of its young artists,” says Matteo Pais, Artistic Director of the Academy. “On this occasion, we have chosen to take a further step by opening these study sessions to the public. As happens in other important international contexts—universities, academies, and festivals—the public masterclass represents a highly valuable educational experience, capable of combining teaching, performance practice, and outreach.
For young artists, direct interaction with a major figure of the contemporary operatic scene offers an opportunity for vocal and musical refinement at the highest level; moreover, the presence of an audience increases the complexity of the experience, bringing it closer to an actual performance. We are fortunate to welcome three names of absolute reference in the international operatic landscape: an ideal exchange for our young artists and for the public alike, with three ambassadors of the art of Italian singing in the world, further enhancing the educational, artistic, and cultural value of these masterclasses.”
The initiative is part of the broader educational project of the Maggio Academy, and in particular of the Maria Manetti Shrem Emerging Artists Program, a two-year advanced training and professional development artistic residency for opera singers and collaborative pianists, carefully selected from among the most promising talents through an international call. Applications are currently open: until February 28, 2026 for opera singers and until April 26, 2026 for collaborative pianists.
Committed to the constant refinement of their craft, the young artists combine stylistic and interpretative research with an intense artistic activity, performing as soloists in operas and concerts at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and at other prestigious international musical institutions.
The musical program of the three masterclasses includes works by Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti, Verdi, Massenet, Mascagni, Puccini, and Cilea.
Tickets are available online on the Maggio Musicale website and at the Theatre Box Office.
