Florence, May 28, 2026 – The successful collaboration between the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Banda La Polverosa continues once again this year. The partnership began over fifteen years ago with the ensemble’s debut concert in 2008 at the Sferisterio delle Cascine, attended at the time by the Maggio’s honorary lifetime conductor Zubin Mehta.
The program includes two concerts: Friday, May 29 at 8:00 PM and Saturday, May 30 at 6:00 PM.
As always, many performers will take part. In the Friday concert, alongside the musicians of La Polverosa - conducted by Dario Scimone - audiences will hear the “Banda classi terze,” the I.C. Verdi choir “Le Verdi Voci” (conducted by Tiziana Fuso and Barbara Meloni), the “Banda Adulti” (conducted by Nicola Cellai and Giada Moretti), and the Orchestra di Fiati della Toscana (conducted by Massimo Cardelli and Andrea D’Amico).
On Saturday, May 30, the spotlight will instead be on the “Gruppi Junior” and the “Banda classi prime” (conducted by Martina Daga, Giulia Raimondi, Dario Scimone, and Remo Simonetti), as well as the “Banda classi seconde” also conducted by Dario Scimone.
The rich program over the two days will once again present an entertaining selection of music spanning different genres and eras - from works by Sergej Prokof'ev and Ludwig van Beethoven to music by John Williams and Deep Purple.
