The Teatro del Maggio announces an additional concert conducted by maestro Zubin Mehta on 21 January 2026

Florence, 13 January 2026 – The Teatro del Maggio announces an additional concert conducted by Zubin Mehta, leading the Orchestra del Maggio Fiorentino, to be held on 21 January 2026 at 8:00 p.m. in the Mehta Hall. The programme will feature the lively and playful Symphony No. 3 in D major, D 200 by Franz Schubert, and the passionate and majestic Symphony No. 5 by Pëtr Il'ič Čajkovskij.

Maestro Mehta will return to the Theatre on 6 February at 8:00 p.m. in the Mehta Hall for a concert featuring an all-Mozart symphonic programme, which will subsequently be performed on tour in Lugano at the LAC on 7 February and in Lucca at the Teatro del Giglio on 10 February.

The concert scheduled for 3 April, featuring the performance of Missa Solemnis in D major, Op. 123 by Ludwig van Beethoven and originally announced under the direction of maestro Mehta, will be conducted by Vasily Petrenko, with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Maggio. The concert on 23 April – featuring Das Lied von der Erde by Gustav Mahler – will be conducted by maestro Thomas Guggeis instead of Maestro Mehta.

Maestro Zubin Mehta will return to the podium on 29 April 2026, on the occasion of his 90th birthday, to conduct the celebrated Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 by Ludwig van Beethoven, with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Maggio.
