Florence, May 20th 2025 – Less than a year after its last performance at the Maggio, the GAMO - Gruppo Aperto Musica Oggi returns to the Theatre for a new symphonic event as part of the Maggio Aperto.
Scheduled for Wednesday, May 21st 2025 at 8 pm, in the wonderful Sala Orchestra of the Theatre, an evening entirely dedicated to the music of the Tuscan composer Gaetano Giani-Luporini: after studying violin, he moved to the "Luigi Cherubini" Conservatory in Florence, graduating in Composition with Roberto Lupi. In 1968, he obtained the chair of Harmony and Counterpoint, again at the Cherubini, where he began his teaching career. Also in Florence, he held a counterpoint course at the "Graduate School of Fine Arts" of Villa Schifanoia. In 1986 he left Florence to take up the role of director at the "Luigi Boccherini" Music Institute in Lucca until 2003. From 1980 to 1998 he collaborated with Carmelo Bene for whom he wrote the stage music for numerous shows.
On the podium of the Sala Orchestra, Maestro Francesco Gesualdi, who is the musical and artistic director of GAMO and was also a protagonist on the podium in last year's concert.
