“Frammenti di una vita per il teatro”: Paolo Grassi e Eduardo De Filippo tra Sud e Nord

On December 21, 2025, on the occasion of the celebrations for the 2500th anniversary of the city of Naples, with the support of the Municipality of Naples and co-produced with the Fondazione Paolo Grassi – La Voce della Cultura, the exhibition “Frammenti di una vita per il teatro”: Paolo Grassi e Eduardo De Filippo tra Sud e Nord was inaugurated.

The first stage was held at the Teatro San Ferdinando and subsequently in the grand foyer of the Teatro di San Carlo.

Next stage: Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino from May 12 to July 1, 2026.

The exhibition curated by Francesca Grassi illustrates, through photographs and documents, the life of Paolo Grassi and his collaborators, featuring significant photographic and epistolary materials.

A life devoted, from his twenties onward, to the goal of creating an art theatre for everyone, so that even those audiences who, at the time, were far removed from those red velvet seats, might gain access to them and be nourished by the words written by great authors who portrayed life in its most intimate dimensions.

The next confirmed venues are currently: Bari Airport, late August–September 2026; Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, mid-November 2026–January 7, 2027; Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Parigi, January 14–March 19, 2027; Piccolo Teatro di Milano, May 10–July 10, 2027. It will subsequently be presented at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna on a date to be announced.

In 2028 at the Teatro alla Scala for its 250th anniversary.
