“Banda La Polverosa”
at the Teatro del Maggio
The “Banda La Polverosa” returns to the Teatro del Maggio with three events scheduled for Saturday 17th (6 pm) and Sunday 18th May 2025 (6 pm and 9 pm), in the Zubin Mehta Hall.
The afternoon shows on May 17th and 18th will feature the members of the “Banda La Polverosa”; the “Junior Groups” and the “First, Second and Third Grade Band” directed by Giulia Raimondi and Dario Scimone. They will be joined by the Choir of the “Verdi” Comprehensive Institute of Florence.
The concert on May 18th at 9 pm will feature the Orchestra di Fiati della Toscana directed by Massimo Cardelli and Andrea D’Amico and the “Banda La Polverosa”; the “Third Grade Band” and the “Adult Band” directed by Nicola Cellai, Giada Moretti and Dario Scimone.
Florence, May 16th, 2025 - The successful collaboration between the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Banda La Polverosa, born over fifteen years ago with the debut concert in 2008 at the Sferisterio delle Cascine, is renewed again this year.
The “Maggio aperto” program includes three concerts in the Zubin Mehta Hall, one scheduled for Saturday, May 17th at 6 pm and two on Sunday, May 18th: the first at 6 pm and the second at 9 pm, both already sold out.
There are many artists in the shows: the protagonists of the 6 pm events are the “Banda La Polverosa”, the “Gruppi Junior” and the “Banda classi prime, seconde e terzi” with Giulia Raimondi and Dario Scimone on the podium together with the Choir of the “Verdi” Comprehensive Institute of Florence. The director of the Choir is Tiziana Fuso.
In the concert on May 18th at 9 pm, the members of the Orchestra di Fiati della Toscana conducted by Massimo Cardelli and Andrea D’Amico and the “Banda La Polverosa” will be on stage; the “Banda classi terzi” and the “Banda adulti” conducted by Nicola Cellai, Giada Moretti and Dario Scimone.
The program features a substantial and entertaining selection of compositions spanning over two centuries of music with pieces by Michael Sweeney, Ludwig van Beethoven, Edward Elgar, Alan Silvestri, John Williams, Coldplay, Queen and many others.
