The Maggio's new Steering Committee chaired by Mayor Dario Nardella, meeting in Palazzo Vecchio, proposed to Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano the name of Carlo Fuortes as the next superintendent of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
Florence, March 5, 2024 - The meeting of the 7 members appointed by the respective institutions to compose the new Steering Committee that will be chaired by Mayor Dario Nardella took place today in Palazzo Vecchio.
The members are the Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella, Gennaro Galdo for the Ministry of Culture, Antonella Giachetti for the Municipality of Florence, Valdo Spini for the Region of Tuscany, Sandro Rogari for the CrF Foundation, Stefano Lucchini for Banca Intesa Sanpaolo; Cesara Buonamici was indicated as the seventh member; all accepted the nomination and thus the May Steering Committee, chaired by the Mayor, was officially reconstituted.
The only item on the agenda was the process of identifying the new superintendent. A trio of names was proposed: Paolo Petrocelli, current superintendent of the Dubai Opera in the United Arab Emirates, Onofrio Cutaia, outgoing commissioner of the Teatro del Maggio, and Carlo Fuortes, former managing director of RAI and former superintendent of the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome.
The Council decided to propose to Minister Sangiuliano the name of Carlo Fuortes as the next superintendent of the Maggio Fiorentino.
The Mayor and the Board members thanked all the members for their common efforts to support the Maggio's relaunch project and Onofrio Cutaia, who joined them at the end of the meeting to say goodbye, for the painstaking reorganisation work carried out during the year of commissioning.
