Pëtr Il'ič Čajkovskij
Swan lake
Programma
From Sunday, March 14 at 5:00 pm, the Sala Grande of the Maggio will host a brand-new production of Tchaikovsky’s Swan lake, a reinterpretation of the celebrated ballet as a contemporary myth, presented in co-production with the New Generation Festival Foundation. Following the premiere, performances are scheduled for March 17 at 8:00 pm (a special performance for schools), March 18 and 19 at 8:00 pm, Saturday March 20 at 6:00 pm, and Sunday March 21 at 3:30 pm. Founded in collaboration with dance star Xander Parish OBE - former Principal Dancer of the Mariinsky Theatre and the first British dancer in history to attain that rank - the company brings together outstanding Russian, Ukrainian, Italian, French and American dancers who left Russian theatres in the wake of recent international political upheavals, united by a shared vision of art that transcends national boundaries. For this exceptional debut, the production will be conducted by James Conlon and features a distinguished creative team including director Jean-Romain Vesperini, set designer Bruno de Lavenère and video designer Étienne Guiol, fresh from the success of the Paris 2024 Olympic Ceremonies. Following its six performances in Florence, the production will embark on an international tour to some of the world’s leading opera houses and theatres.
