Programma

Mario Brunello (cellist) and violinist Sergej Krylov (violinist) with the “Orchestra del Mare”, which uses instruments made from the wood of migrant boats and crafted by inmates at Opera prison, in a concert of great social value in aid of the Casa dello Spirito e delle Arti Foundation.
The two soloists will play instruments “del Mare”, as will the young musicians of the Italian Youth Orchestra who will accompany them.

Johann Sebastian Bach
Concerto for 2 violins, strings and basso continuo in D minor, BWV 1043

Niccolò Paganini
From Concerto for violin and orchestra No. 2 in B minor: Campanella

Astor Piazzolla
“Adios Nonino” for cello and strings

Giovanni Sollima
“Violoncello vibrez!” for two cellos and strings

The proceeds from the evening will support the “Metamorfosi” project - which has resulted in the creation of the Orchestra del Mare - helping to finance workshops, not only those for stringed instrument making in the prisons of Opera and Secondigliano, but also those in Rebibbia and Monza, where sacred objects such as rosaries are also made from the wood of boats. All prisoners working on the project are employed in accordance with Article 27 of the Italian Constitution.

The concert is made possible thanks to the support of Fondazione CRF, with the patronage of the Municipality of Florence and Fondazione Cariplo.

We would like to thank the Anglo American Hotel for hosting the artists.
